Aloha Bites began as founder Akiko White’s way to share her grandmother’s recipes and award-winning edible artistry in bite-size form. Today the Kailua bakery crafts miniature cupcakes, bright ʻulu breadfruit baking mixes, and small-batch jams, jellies, and marmalades, all colored naturally and sourced from island farmers who supply passionfruit, pineapple, ginger, and citrus. National accolades—from the Wall Street Journal spotlight on its preserves to Food Network praise for Akiko’s Cake Wars creation—validate a commitment to flavor, craftsmanship, and support for Hawai‘i agriculture.
This raise funds essential upgrades: modern ovens and depositor equipment to triple cupcake throughput, commercial-kitchen build-out for year-round efficiency, inventory purchases that lock in peak-season fruit, and payroll to add production staff so Akiko can focus on scaling wholesale and opening a Honolulu storefront. With capacity unlocked, Aloha Bites will expand distribution across Hawai‘i, the mainland, and Japan while maintaining the sustainable sourcing and aloha spirit that define the brand—helping reduce the state’s reliance on imported sweets and giving consumers everywhere a taste of the islands.
Company Info
Aloha Bites creates miniature cupcakes, ʻulu baking mixes, and award-winning preserves that showcase Hawai‘i-grown ingredients and artisanal craftsmanship.
Aloha Bites is a Kailua-based bakery and specialty foods maker that captures Hawai‘i’s diverse flavors in miniature cupcakes, ʻulu (breadfruit) baking mixes, and award-winning preserves. Founder Akiko White draws on her Japanese-Hawaiian heritage and a career in edible art to design bite-sized sweets that are naturally colored with plant extracts and sweetened with local honey or cane sugar. Each recipe features island-grown produce—lilikoi, guava, papaya, citrus, and breadfruit—that supports regional farmers and helps reduce the state’s reliance on imported ingredients. The products are shelf-stable, lightweight, and packaged with tropical illustrations inspired by Akiko’s work as a children’s-book artist, making them ideal gifts and travel retail items.[PARAGRAPH] Production currently takes place in a certified commercial kitchen where small-batch jams and marmalades have earned recognition from the Good Food Awards and the Dalemain World Marmalade Awards, while Akiko’s sculpted cakes were praised on Food Network’s Cake Wars. Looking ahead, the company plans to automate mixing and filling to boost volume for wholesale partners on O‘ahu, the continental U.S., and Japan, and to relocate into a larger facility that can house a retail counter, classroom space, and glass-front viewing area for tourists. Expansion will allow Aloha Bites to scale without compromising its handcrafted quality and “share aloha” mission.
