Beach and Barrel is seeking funds to complete the transformation of a trio of Fairport Harbor storefronts into a mid century inspired tiki bar with a modern coastal attitude. The raise will finance remaining build out work including framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing as well as custom millwork, kitchen equipment, seating, and decor that evokes a year round tropical getaway. When finished, the space will offer craft cocktails, inventive coastal dishes, live music, and a lush patio and beer garden, giving locals and Lake Erie visitors an immersive vacation like escape close to home.
Chef Rusty Phillips, known for the award winning Pompadour tapas bar, partners with community entrepreneur Christopher Pinta to channel two decades of culinary creativity and regional hospitality into this new concept. Their grassroots project has already poured substantial sweat equity into renovations and aims to open within the next year, generating new jobs and spotlighting local purveyors. Future plans include activating a nearby garden for outdoor gatherings and adding walk up service for beachgoers, extending Beach and Barrel’s laid back spirit beyond its walls while anchoring Fairport Harbor’s growing arts and tourism district.

Conceptualized by chef Rusty Phillips, known for The Pompadour, and entrepreneur Christopher Pinta, the venue will feature tropical cocktails built around fresh juices and house syrups, draft beer from regional breweries, and a menu that reinterprets classic island fare with locally sourced produce and Lake Erie seafood. The interior converts three renovated storefronts into an immersive space with carved wood accents, vibrant murals, and views to a stamped concrete patio and seasonal beer garden hosting live music.
Operational plans focus on counter service for walk-in guests and an integrated point of sale system covering indoor tables, patio orders, and future carryout. Seating will include roughly 80 indoor places plus outdoor capacity, with programming such as themed trivia, community concerts, and collaborations with Ohio distillers.
